The RSAF50@Heartlands exhibition made its appearance at Sembawang for the first time on the weekend of 31 March and 1 April, the second estate for this series. Conveniently located at the hardcourt next to Sembawang MRT station, it featured the similar static display platforms, but with some changes in the exhibition displays, namely the Seahawk Helicopter Simulator and the Runway Repair Operation interactive booth. A crowd favourite and the only live aircraft demonstration in the exhibition series was the Search and Rescue (SAR) demonstration by the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) Super Puma.
The SAR demonstration was performed once daily during the exhibition days, featuring a red-and-white painted Super Puma, callsign “Rescue 10”, from 125 Squadron, and medical personnel from 1 Medical Squadron (1MS). The low level entry and flight path showcased the pilot’s skill in manoeuvring and controlling the helicopter within the small “display box” area, and the medical personnel carried out the swift takeover and evacuation of the injured “victim”, all within a space of 5 minutes from entry to takeoff. This is a testament to the importance of the mission that “Rescue 10” plays so “That Others May Live”.
