The perennial favourite of the Singapore Airshow since 2008, the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) once again bring iti presence to Singapore Airshow 2022. With the global situation and aviation sector still affected by the pandemic, the RSAF continues to bring the excitement of its flying displays and the up-close impressiveness of its arsenal, along with its ever vigilant and dedicated personnel, to this year’s edition. As there are no public days this year, the MAphotoSG Team had a preview of the RSAF displays, and we are happy to be able to share our shots and hope that this will make up for it.
RSAF Static Display Assets
This year, there will be a total of seven assets representing the RSAF spectrum of fighters, helicopters, transport, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and Ground Based Air Defence (GBAD). The highlight of the display is the Airbus H225M (fornerly Eurocopter EC725 Caracal) medium lift helicopter, which will be replacing the venerable but ageing Eurocopter AS332 Super Pumas which have been in service since 1983. The H225M will provide a greater mission flexibility with its increased payload and range, and improvements such as an extra hoist for redundancy, longer hoist cable for taller obstacles, and improved winch motor speed. With this platform acquisition, the RSAF becomes the third ASEAN country after Thailand and Malaysia to operate this model.
