In what has become a norm, the global COVID-19 pandemic has changed and upended society wherever you are. Along with those who passed on, and in recovery, healthcare services and infrastructure have been stretched unimaginably, as the economy falters and almost comes to a standstill. Social and business events were cancelled and it took a toll on those whose livelihoods depended on it.

At MAphotoSG, we took this opportunity to “take five”, in our fifth year coincidentally. With the exception of the Singapore Airshow 2020 and National Day Parade events, our planned coverages of overseas events were initially postponed, then eventually cancelled, as the pandemic spread globally in intensity. Based on the current situation, events in 2021 are also heavily affected, such as the postponement of Avalon to Nov 2021 and the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace event to 2023.

The group has used this extended “downtime” to take stock of our current and future plans, and to prepare to adapt to the new normal that will be the forseeable future. On the flip side, we have managed to spend more time in our local spotting endeavours, and to use our photography skills on other subjects of interests.

2020 has been a year that almost all of us have never experienced in living memory, and we’re appreciative and glad to be safe and to have more family bonding time. We wish everyone the best of health and prosperity in the Year of the Ox, and do stay safe and take care of those around you.

Here’s to a Happy New Year and 2021!
