In the blink of an eye, it has been more than a year and a half since Singapore emerged out of the Covid shadow. It has also been a busy year for the MAphotoSG team as we return back to our normality of covering and photographing events.

The French Armed Forces presence in Asia Pacific was significant with the RASTABAN, PEGASE and Mission JEANNE D’ARC deployments, and the stopover of then yet-to-be-commissioned FREMM DA Lorraine on its four-month shakedown deployment. The team would like to thank the Ambassade de France à Singapour for their invitations and arrangement. We also returned back overseas to Langkawi for LIMA 2023, England for RIAT 2023 and Taiwan for the ROCAF Open House in Ching Chuan Kang Air Base.

Locally, we celebrated the Republic of Singapore Air Force’s 55th anniversary with our coverage of the long-awaited RSAF Open House at Paya Lebar Air Base, and the return of the Republic of Singapore Navy to Vivo. The National Day Parade returned back to the Padang for our 58th year of independence and IMDEX Asia returned back after been scaled back for its 2021 edition. We also did our usual spotting activities, capturing some interesting aircraft and ship types over our skies and seas.

It has been eight years since MAphotoSG began, and through the years, we have slowly expanded our activities to keep pace with the team size. While the team is now smaller than when it first started, we have covered much more events than before.

As we pushed towards our decade in another two years time, we would like to thank you for your support of our photography and articles. Without you, there won’t be an audience and reason for what we do.

As we close out 2023, we wish you a Happy New Year as we welcome in the Year of the Dragon.
