Royal Malaysian Air Force(RMAF) SU-30MKM
The SU-30MKM (Modernizirovannyi Kommercheskiy Malaysia – Modernised Export Malaysia) is a very advanced version of the SU-30K export version. Similar to SU-30MKI which is the Indian Airforce version, it maintains the airframe of the Su-30K but includes technologies from the more advanced SU-35.
The SU-30MKM is a fly-by-wire super maneuverable aircraft with canards, and 2 thrust-vectoring engines, each producing 27,500 lb of thurst with afterburners. Consensus amongst experts and Indian Airforce exercise results point to the SU-30MKM or the SU-30MKI to be superior to all US aircraft, including the F/A-18E Super Hornet and the F-15E/SG Strike Eagles, except maybe the F-22A Raptors in terms of maneuverability.
The Singapore Airshow 2016 aerial display segment performed by the RMAF team was designed to demonstrate the amazing flight characteristics that it is able to perform. Blasting into show centre and rolling 90 degrees to show the top view to the crowd, it then went on a full vertical climb with afterburners before doing a series of maneuvers using the thrust vectoring and canards to change the flight path in a manner that totally defies the principles of flight. Some amazing performances includes the famed Cobra and corkscrew spin which wowed the crowd. A very impressive performance and a job well done by the RMAF team!
