At LIMA ‘17, and reflecting the close bilateral relationships with our closest neighbour, the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) and Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) both took part in the aerospace and maritime segments of the exhibition.
The RSAF was represented by a Boeing AH-64D Apache Longbow helicopter from 120 Squadron “Redhawks” and a F-15SG Strike Eagle from 149 Squadron “Shikras”, led by Detachment Commander, LTC Goh Sim Aik, Commanding Officer, 149 Squadron.
Both aircraft were in the static display area of the aerospace exhibition, and it was the debut appearance of the F-15SG in the history of LIMA. The RSAF presence was very popular with both trade and public visitors, and it was common to see photo opportunities taken with the RSAF personnel and aircraft.
The Formidable-class stealth frigate, RSS Tenacious, represented the RSN in the maritime segment, taking part in the Maritime Fleet Review segment, while anchored in the waters off Resorts World Langkawi. The RSN detachment was led by LTC Auyong Kok Phai, Commanding Officer, RSS Tenacious.
